The monthly magazine that Sun City Anthem publishes is the Spirit. It is mailed to every homeowner’s listed mailing address. The Relay is a separate newsletter that is mailed with the Spirit.

The magazine and accompanying Relay should show up in your mailbox at the end of each month. Why you should read it is a no-brainer. First off, it’s entertaining and well written — by residents, for residents. Second, it’s informative. And third, it might change your life.

In addition to important contact phone numbers and email addresses that you should have at your fingertips, the magazine is the best source for news on what’s happening in our community: upcoming events, entertainers and outings, club happenings, news from the homeowners’ association, committee meetings and more.

Local businesses and services advertise in the Spirit, and residents have found those solicitations helpful. By patronizing those advertisers and medical professionals, they are assured that they will be speaking with people who are familiar with many of the problems our age-restricted-community residents may have. Also, sometimes there are valuable discounts and coupons in the magazine.

You’ll find monthly articles from the Board of Directors, dates and times of upcoming meetings, and a Board summary report from its most recent meeting. Committee writeups will keep you apprised of what our residents are doing for our community. The monthly chartered clubs — such as current events, hiking and outings, computer, bridge, lifelong learning, poker, opera — may tempt you to try something new. The Activities section, which focuses on three months’ worth of events in each issue, provides all the information you’ll need so you can plan well in advance to join your neighbors for fun and entertainment.

The Relay contains handy full-page calendars of events, meetings, fitness center classes and new offerings. There’s a classified ad section so residents can advertise to residents. Usually these ads feature available rental and vacation properties, furniture, electronics and other sale items. Sometimes we publish articles of general interest from the city of Henderson that we feel our residents might like to read.
